    The West Jaintia Hills District Administration on Wednesday decided to go for total lockdown for three days in a week as to prevent any outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 in the District following the detection of seven COVID-19 positive cases in Shillong, East Khasi Hills District.

    The decision was taken in a meeting was chaired by Garod LSN Dykes, 1AS, Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District at the DC’s office, Jowai.

    The meeting decided to appeal to the Waheh Chnong or Village Headman to cooperate in sharing information of the people who have visited Bethany Hospital, Shillong on or after 22 March, 2020 and Nongpoh on or after 30 March, 2020. Anyone who visited Bethany Hospital should go for registration either by calling 108 or 1070 or online at http://meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid/login.htm

    They decided that the identified Wholesaler shall open on every Tuesday and Friday of the week and identified while Retailer shall open on Wednesday and Saturday of the week.

    The meeting decided to go for total Lockdown in the District on Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

    They also decided that Car Passes which have already been issued to individual stand cancelled except the two Car Passes issued to each Rangbah Shnong which will be utilized for emergency purpose within the District only. CAR PASSES for ESSENTIAL COMM0DITIES and EMERGENCY with recommendation of Headman will be issued separately.

    It was informed that agricultural produce from Niriang. Mookyndur and nearby villages are facing problem to sell their vegetables due to lockdown. The Chairman informed that matter was entrusted to the District Agriculture Officer and the District Authority is arranging for opening of the Farmer’s Market at lalong.
