  • Total lockdown declared in four villages of South West Khasi Hills

    In view of rapid surge in COVID-19 cases in South West Khasi Hills, the District Magistrate on Wednesday announced total lockdown will be enforced in four villages includes Mawkyrwat, Mawlangwir, Mawten and Nonglang villages from 5 Am of May 24 to 5 Am of May 31.

    The order was issued in order to prevent from uncontrollable surge of COVID-19 in the district.

    Funeral gatherings to be restricted to 10 persons only, with prior permission from Deputy Commissioner Office.

    All Government Offices/ Banks/ Post Office/ Schools/ Colleges/ Institutions etc in the above mentioned villages to be closed down during the period.

    Mawkyrwat Market will be closed down completely.

    Entry of persons into Mawkyrwat, Mawlangwir, Mawten and Nonglang villages are prohibited during the lockdown period.

    People are prohibited to move out of their house unnecessarily.

    All kinds of public gathering are strictly prohibited.

    State Bank of India, Mawkyrwat Branch is allowed to open strictly for Government transaction. The ATM located in the premises of the bank will be allowed to operate.

    All locality shops, farming activities, MGNREGS, fishing, domestic workers, sports activities and loitering are strictly prohibited.

    Exemptions:
    Health services including emergency services, Medical Teams and Officials on COVID-19 vaccination at Mawkyrwat CHC.

    Movement of essential goods.

    Goods Vehicles and Supply of Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.

    Persons travelling on Essential Government duty viz.
    Office of the Deputy Commisioner, Mawkyrwat

    NIC Mawkyrwat

    Police, Security and Armed Forces

    Civil Defence and Home Guards.

    Fire & Emergency Services.

    Telecommunication services.

    Water Supply.

    Fair Price Shops and LPG Distributor

    Information and Public Relations.

    Print & Electronic Media.

    Medical Emergencies.
