TMC leader and leader of opposition Mukul Sangma on Thursday said it is not necessary for his party to fight the forthcoming elections to the two autonomous district councils (ADCs) in the Khasi and Jaintia regions of the state.

“We have taken a conscious decision that it is not necessary for us to fight every election particularly the district council elections,” Sangma told reporters while referring to the party’s decision to stay away from the ADC polls.

He said that the party does not want to put the cart before the horse.

“Therefore, we are revisiting on how to strengthen the party particularly in the grassroot level because in absence of proper organization at the grassroot it is very important for us to ensure that we look at the practical rather the ground reality at the ground zero and it is almost deciding not to put the cart before the horse,” Sangma added.

I think it is a wise decision made by him. Moreover, it will give him some time to work on their flaws.
