  • Three youths from West Jaintia Hills District arrested to be suspected HNLC cadres

    The Meghalaya Police arrested three suspected HNLC cadres in Ri Bhoi District and West Jaintia Hills District for conspiring with Bangladesh based members of proscribed outfit HNLC and several other unknown accused to assemble and plant IEDs at several places in Khasi & Jaintia Hills Region.

    According to police, Equest Langsiang of Nartiang Village, West Jaintia Hills District was detained from Bethany Hospital junction, Nongpoh on Tuesday at around 12:30 AM and at the spot incriminating evidence recovered from his mobile phone and was accordingly seized.

    Police informed that during preliminary interrogation, Langsiang admitted to be the member of HNLC and was planning to plant IEDs along with other member of HNLC and revealed the names of the Deiborlangki Sariang of Nartiang, West Jaintia Hills and Markhlan Biam of Laskein, West Jaintia Hills. Sariang and Biam were apprehended from Jowai & Nartiang respectively and admitted to be the members of HNLC and also planning IED blast on August 14 and 15 on direction of Bangladesh based leaders of proscribed outfit HNLC.

    Police has registered Nongpoh PS Case No.87(08)2024 U/s 113 (3) (5) BNS against the three suspected HNLC cadres.
