  • Three Police and a Home Guard Inspector awarded Meritorious Service Medal on Republic Day

    On the occasion of Republic Day 2024, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a total of 1132 personnel from Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence, and Correctional Service with Gallantry/Service Medals.

    Three Meghalaya Police personnel have been awarded with the prestigious Police Medal for Meritorious Service. The awardees include Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police (City), Meghalaya, John M Sangma, AB Inspector, Meghalaya and Teibor Sumer, Havildar, Meghalaya.

    According to the official announcement, two BSF personnel were awarded with the President’s Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 275 received the Medal for Gallantry (GM), 102 were honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and 753 were presented with the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

    Aniosca Basaiawmoit

    Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) was awarded to Aniosca Basaiawmoit, Senior Instructor at the Central Training Institute of Civil Defence and Home Guards, Meghalaya. Inspector Mawdiangdiang was also bestowed with the Meritorious Service Medal.

    Inspector Basaiawmoit is the first personnel from the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department in the State to receive the newly instituted Meritorious Service Medal.
