The All India Junior Selection Committee (U-16 Boys) of the BCCI has selected three young and promising players of the Meghalaya Cricket Association to participate in the U-16 Boys Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA) camps of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) scheduled from 19 April to 15 May 2024.

The players – Gaurav Jyoti Thakuria, Dipayan Nandi and Apandanka Marak – have been selected on the basis of their tremendous performances during this season’s U-16 boys Vijay Merchant Trophy, which ran from 1 December 2023 to 6 January 2024 in which Meghalaya were the runners-up in the plate group.

The valiant efforts of these players earned them a spot in the prestigious ZCA camps, which will take place in Surat, Cuttack and Jaipur under the guidance of top notch coaches and faculty of the country.

Apandanka stormed to third in the wicket-taking charts nationwide, with 48 scalps to his credit from seven matches played, which gave him a brilliant average of just 10.77 and strike rate of 23.10. Gaurav Jyoti Thakuria was another successful bowler, having taken 31 wickets from this season’s seven games. His average was 14.77 and strike rate 25.35. Apandanka and Gaurav claimed five and three five-wicket hauls respectively.

Dipayan, meanwhile, struck 393 runs in seven matches, with four half-centuries. He was 30th overall in the country by runs scored in the tournament this season.
