Three drug peddlers arrested in East Jaintia Hills

Three drug peddlers were arrested for transporting heroin of 59.86 grams near Umtyra Infiltration check gate, East Jaintia Hills District on Saturday evening.

Acting credible information the ANTF staff and Ladrymbai OP set up a naka near Umtyra Infil check gate and the vehicle was detained Bolero bearing R/C No AS 19 E 0671 at around 7pm.

During the search of the vehicle in presence of an independent witness, 6 soap boxes containing yellowish orange powder were found concealed in the vehicle. A preliminary test confirmed heroin. The total gross weight is 59.86 worth 30 lakh.

The three drug peddlers are Altab Hussain, Anwar Hussain and Pranjal Das and a case is registered against them at Khliehriat PS.

A case is being registered at Khliehriat PS and investigation is on to trace the backward and forward linkages.
