A three day Capacity Building Programme for Teachers to prepare them to deal with medical emergencies in school commenced on October 4 at SMELC, Dakopgre, Tura. Organized by the office of the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Planning), the three day capacity building programme is meant to equip teachers to deal with medical emergencies in school such as seizures, heat stroke, choking etc. The programme will delve into children’s psychology, on how to better understand it and also how to handle children with special needs.

During the three day programme instruction will be imparted to the deputed teachers and students who will be divided batch wise for effective and efficient dissemination of information.

Aptly themed ‘deal beyond the children’s needs’ the capacity building programme apart from educating and providing knowledge to the students these trainings will empower the teachers to deal with emergency situations of the children in school affirmed  Additional Deputy Commissioner and District Planning Officer Winje R G Momin.

The resource persons for the three day training are Senior Medical and Health Officer Dr Gandira Ch Marak who will delve on management of medical emergencies in school, Sister Packia Mary who will speak on how to deal with children with special needs and Clinical Psychologist Narbecca Momin who will talk on sex education (reproductive and sexual health) along with handling children’s psychology.
