    With the aim to support children who have lost both their parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents, or surviving parent to COVID-19 pandemic, during the period from 11th March 2020 to 28th February 2022, the PM- CARES for Children Scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The objective of the PM CARES for Children Scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children in a sustainable manner and enable their well-being through health insurance, empower them through education, and equip them for self-sufficient existence with financial support. 

    Along with the rest of the country,  East Jaintia Hills District also took part in the programme virtually via video conferencing/ webcast in the conference room of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District which was attended by Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, Teibor Kyndiah, District Child Protection Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Members of the Child Welfare Committee, East Jaintia Hills District, Representatives from Child Line, East Jaintia Hills District, Representatives from the District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, and the Superintendent of Child Care Institutions in the District.

    The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, handed over key schemes documents containing a letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sneh Patra(Certificate of PM CARES), PM CARES for Children Passbooks, and a Health Card of Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to 3(three) children of the District who are under PM CARES. DPRO
