Terror drill at Agartala secretariat showcases elite forces in high-stakes hostage rescue simulation

In a show of force and coordination, a multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise was carried out at the Agartala Secretariat on the evening of July 4, simulating a high-risk terrorist attack and hostage situation.
The joint operation involved elite units from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and the Tripura Police Dog Squad and Bomb Squad. The agencies worked in unison to secure the Secretariat complex, conducting room-to-room clearance drills and neutralizing simulated threats with speed and precision.
One of the key scenarios played out during the drill was the rescue of hostages trapped inside the Secretariat building. The simulation included detailed searches for explosives, with the Dog Squad and Bomb Squad ensuring the site was safe and fully cleared of potential threats.
Officials said the exercise was designed to test real-time crisis response, sharpen coordination between agencies, and bolster security readiness for protecting high-value government infrastructure.

The success of the operation highlighted the critical importance of joint preparedness and the operational synergy between state and central forces in responding to potential terror threats.
