    In compliance with Order No. POL.75/2020/Pt.I/104 dt. 25th June, 2021 issued by the Home (Political) Department, Government of Meghalaya, Shillong, permitting upto 20% of commercial transport in urban areas and 50% in rural areas and taking cognizance of the concerning number of cases in many rural areas, and in the interest of regulating movement within the district so that there is no transmission of Covid-19 from one area to another, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has made the following arrangement of Local Taxis and Auto Rickshaw from June 28 to July 3 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

    For Shillong Urban Agglomeration and Adjoining Areas @ 20% per day:

    Local taxis and auto-rickshaws will ply within Shillong Urban Agglomeration and adjoining areas only, i.e., areas falling within

    Whole of Municipality Area

    Whole of Cantonment Area

    All Census Towns and villages under Mawlai C & RD Block

    All Census Towns and villages under Mawpat C & RD Block

    Areas under Mylliem C & RD Block 

    There will be no transportation of passengers outside Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas as mentioned above. Any inter-district movement and movement outside Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas will be only through passes duly obtained from the authority concerned.

    The vehicles will ply as per arrangement given below:

    Areas falling within Sohra and Pynursla (Civil) Sub-Division @ 33% per day:

    Arrangement will be made by the Sub Divisional Officers (C), Sub-Division concerned for commercial vehicles to ply within the Sub-Division only.

    There will be no transportation of passengers to Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas as mentioned at para I (a). Movement into Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas will only be for essential reasons and with passes duly obtained from the SDO (C) concerned.

    Areas falling within C & RD Blocks i.e Mawryngkneng, Mawkynrew, Mawsynram, Sohiong and Mawphlang C & RD Blocks @ 33% per day:

    These vehicles will ply only within the block concerned on the days permitted for opening of essential and non-essential activities.

    There will be no transportation of passengers to Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas as mentioned at para I (a). Movement into Shillong Urban Agglomeration and its adjoining areas will only be for essential reasons and with passes duly obtained from the BDOs concerned.

    The vehicles will ply as per arrangement given below:-

    Seating capacity will be strictly adhered to as follows:

    Vaccination Status should be clearly indicated on the vehicles as per this office order         No. C&S.2/CVD/2021/ORD/159, dated 24th June, 2021.

    Wearing of double mask or N-95 is mandatory, even for a single person driving a vehicle. In case of persons travelling in any private car with valid pass or authorisation, up to 100% of its seating capacity, wearing of double mask or N-95 is mandatory for all the persons. Use of sanitizers is mandatory. Proper ventilation of the vehicle is advisable.

    Pillion riding is not allowed except with women or children in case of two wheelers with valid pass or authorization.

    All Public transport authorities shall strictly enforce COVID-19 appropriate behavior and seating inside the vehicles.

    Violation of any norms and advisories of the Government of Health and Family Welfare Department and this office will be liable for action as per Law by the appropriate authority.
