Residents of Tangnub, East Jaintia Hills, staged a strong protest against the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) by completely boycotting the MDC election on February 21.

The polling station in the village remained deserted, with no voters participating in the election.

According to reports, the residents decided to boycott the MDC election as a mark of protest against JHADC’s failure to address their demand to retain the village under its original constituency, Sutnga Nongkhlieh.

Under the new delimitation, Tangnub has been shifted from Sutnga Nongkhlieh Constituency to Saipung Nongkhlieh Constituency.
