    The Jaintia Students’ Movement (JSM) Central Body on Saturday urged Meghalaya Government to ensure the safety and security of the Khasi people living in Barak Valley, Assam while demanding legal action against Pradip Duta Roy, President All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association for threatening the Khasi people living in Barak Valley.

    In a complaint lodged with Khliehriat Police Station, the JSM Central Body informed that Roy in his press statement said “A large number of people of Khasi community reside in Barak Valley They will face serious trouble” published in a section of the press.

    “His statement is a direct threat Khasi people living in Barak Valley and it is a fact that the Khasi people are minority in comparison to the other communities in Barak Valley,” said JSM Central Body President and General Secretary.

    They urged the police to register a case against Pradip Dutta Roy. President All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association and booked him under relevant sections of the laws and also to take necessary steps as to ensure safety and security to the Khasi people living in Barak Valley.

    The JSM leaders met SP East Jaintia Hills District and submitted a copy of the complaint to him. The SP told the JSM leaders that he will discuss with his seniors and initiate necessary actions as per provision of the laws.
