Shillong’s Supercare Hospital marks a milestone by earning Northeast India’s first NABH Nursing Excellence Certification

In a remarkable achievement, Supercare Hospital in Shillong has become the first in Northeast India to receive the prestigious NABH Nursing Excellence Certification. This recognition highlights their commitment to providing top-quality healthcare and sets a high standard for others to follow in the region.
NABH is a quality accreditation board for Indian hospitals, part of the Quality Council of India (QCI), a national body promoting quality across sectors. NABH sets standards for healthcare facilities, including nursing care, to ensure high quality and safety. These standards, rooted in international best practices, enhance patient safety and care. NABH standards are the highest benchmark for hospital quality in India. NABH accreditation signifies a high-quality healthcare facility, gaining international recognition.
NABH nursing excellence standards establish guidelines to assess nursing services. The certification covers 7 key chapters, setting standards for evaluating nursing services and enhancing safe, ethical care. It guides professional nursing practice and aids nurse administrators in supporting top-tier patient care.
After rigorous evaluation of 48 quality standards and 216 objective elements, Supercare Hospital received Nursing Excellence Certification on June 13, 2023, valid till June 12, 2025.
Shillong’s Supercare Hospital is the first in Northeast India awarded NABH Certification for Nursing Excellence.
Supercare Hospital also holds NABH Accreditation for Hospital, NABH Certification for Emergency, and NABH Nursing Excellence, unique in the northeast. These achievements highlight the hospital’s commitment to healthcare excellence under Dr. R. S. Thangkhiew’s leadership. Dr. Thangkhiew praises the nursing staff’s skills and contributions to patient well-being, furthering their pursuit of healthcare service excellence.
Chief Operating Officer, Damien Marwein notes the certification improves processes, guides nurses, credited to the nursing management team led by Nursing Superintendent, Mrs. Mary Lyngdoh. Supercare Hospital views this as a stepping stone to greater accomplishments.
