Subroto Mukherjee Cup: Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia, and West Jaintia schools’ storm into semis

Ri-Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, and West Jaintia Hills schools produced dominant displays on Day 3 (July 3)  of the State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2025, securing their semi-final spots across all categories. As the tournament heats up, all eyes now turn to July 4 when these qualifiers will fight for a place in the finals at SSA Stadium, Polo.

In the under-17 boys’ category, Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School (Ri-Bhoi) outclassed Horirai Syiemlieh Memorial HSS (South West Khasi Hills) 4–0, while Wapung HSS (East Jaintia Hills) overwhelmed St. Claret HSS (South West Garo Hills) with a dominant 10–1 scoreline. Bajengdoba HSS (North Garo Hills) defeated Government Boys HSS (West Garo Hills) 2–0, and North Liberty HSS (West Jaintia Hills) edged past O.M. Roy Memorial HSS (East Khasi Hills) 1–0.

For the under-17 girls, North Liberty HSS (West Jaintia Hills) secured a semi-final spot with an 8–0 win over Government Boys HSS (West Garo Hills). Tyrsad HSS (East Khasi Hills) also qualified after beating Jakrem Presbyterian HSS (South West Khasi Hills) 3–0. Kyrshai Govt. L.P & U.P School (West Khasi Hills) edged Little Star English Medium SS (Eastern West Khasi Hills) 1–0, while RGVB School, Samanda (East Garo Hills) defeated St. Claret HSS (South West Khasi Hills) 1–0.

In the under-15 boys’, Mawtneng U.P. & Secondary School (Ri-Bhoi) blanked St. Mary’s Secondary School, Baiza (East Garo Hills) 5–0, while Assam Rifles Public School (East Khasi Hills) routed St. Claret HSS (South West Garo Hills) 9–0. Govt. Boys HSS, Jowai (West Jaintia Hills) defeated KJP Synod Sepngi HSS, Nongstoin (West Khasi Hills) 2–0 to set up a semi-final against Little Star English Medium SS (Eastern West Khasi Hills).

• Nongjri Presbyterian SS (Ri-Bhoi) vs North Liberty HSS (West Jaintia Hills) – 10:30 am
• Tyrsad HSS (East Khasi Hills) vs Lotus Secondary School (East Jaintia Hills) – 12:15 pm

Under-17 Boys

• Bajengdoba HSS (North Garo Hills) vs North Liberty HSS (West Jaintia Hills) – 2:00 pm
• Nongjri Presbyterian SS (Ri-Bhoi) vs Wapung HSS (East Jaintia Hills) – 3:45 pm

With places in the finals at stake, the semi-finals promise another day of electrifying school football action.
