Subroto Cup: Mawtneng, Govt Boys, Nongjri, Tyrsad & North Liberty in title clashes

The semi-finals of the State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2025 at SSA Stadium, Polo, saw intense action across all categories on Friday, setting the stage for thrilling finals.
In the Under-17 Boys category, North Liberty Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills) booked their place in the final with a commanding 3-0 victory over Bajengdoba Hr. Sec. School (North Garo Hills). Nambor Lamat opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by strikes from Iaisanlang Dohling (31’) and Erickson Dohling (64’).
Joining them in the title clash will be Nongjri Presbyterian Sec. School (Ri-Bhoi), who edged past Wapung Hr. Sec. School (East Jaintia Hills) 2-1. Emerson Ryngkhlem (51’) and Badonlang Syngkli (84’) found the net for Nongjri, while Rooneybert Dkhar (56’) scored the lone goal for Wapung.
In the Under-17 Girls semi-finals, Nongjri Presbyterian continued their fine run as Rimika Khongkai’s solitary goal in the 40th minute secured a 1-0 win over North Liberty Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills). They will face Tyrsad Hr. Sec. School (East Khasi Hills), who overcame Lotus Secondary School (East Jaintia Hills) 1-0, thanks to Balabet Khongsit’s stoppage time strike (60+14’).
The Under-15 Boys final will feature Mawtneng U.P. & Sec. School (Ri-Bhoi) and Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School (West Jaintia Hills). Mawtneng edged past Assam Rifles Public School (East Khasi Hills) 1-0 with a 13th-minute goal from Malong Bey. Govt. Boys secured their spot with a 2-0 victory over Little Star Eng. Med. Sec. School (Eastern West Khasi Hills), courtesy of goals from Elvinson Lyngdoh (32’) and Samewan Lytan (47’).
The finals are scheduled for Saturday, July 5, at SSA Stadium, Polo. Mawtneng U.P. & Sec. School will face Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School at 9:00 AM (U-15 Boys), Nongjri Pres. Hr. Sec. School will take on Tyrsad Hr. Sec. School at 11:00 AM (U-17 Girls), while North Liberty Hr. Sec. School will clash with Nongjri Pres. Hr. Sec. School at 1:00 PM in the U-17 Boys summit clash.
