    The court of the Special Judge (NDPS Act) on Wednesday convicted two persons for their involvement in a drug trafficking case in 2013.

    “The court of the  Special Judge (NDPS Act), NA Khan found the accused Sangte Paite and Lalmingliana guilty and were convicted for the offence U/S 22(C) of the NDPS Act, 1985,” East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said in a statement.

    Sangte Paite and Lalmingliana were arrested by police while conducting naka checking at IIM junction, Nongthymmai on February 22, 2013.

    During the search, 2178.72 gms of psychotropic drugs namely Spasmo proxyvon were found and seized from their possession, he said.  

    A case was registered with the Rynjah police station. The case was investigated by (then) Sub-Inspector Simseng A Sangma who was the In-charge of the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), East Khasi Hills. The arrested accused were forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, NDPS.

    The case was chargesheeted on April 30, 2013.
