  • SPARK celebrates children’s day with underprivileged children

    On the occasion of Children’s Day, SPARK initiated a series of activities and programmes for the underprivileged children.

    The occaision is not only for celebration but for empowering and building up the capacities of these less privileged children thereby enabling them to stand for their rights and protect themselves from abuse and exploitations.

    According to SPARK, it was observed that with the prevailing situation of COVID 19, many children have fallen victims to abuses and exploitations besides facing a lot of crisis. 

    Therefre, sensitization and awareness programmes are being organized and at the same time, provided platforms to the children to share their issues and problems as well as their views and opinion to resolve different social evils.

    During the celebration, NA Khan, District and Session Judge cum Chairperson of District Legal Services  Authority, Shillong also visited Mawlong Village along with his team and distributed blankets to the children. 

    Khan interacted with the children and ensured to provide them uniform on the need expressed by the teachers at Mawlong SPARK Centre. 

    Also, the District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills District too collaborated and provided snacks to the children. 

    Similarly, at Bara Bazaar Slum, Rocky Hek and his team from their Party Office visited and gave blankets and snacks to all the children.

    Likewise for the children from Rangmen and Mawlynrei Triashnong villages, other friends and families too joined hands to celebrate Children’s Day and make the day more special for these children.

    The programmes were held at Mawlong Village, Mawlynrei Triashnong Village, Pongkung Village, Bara Bazaar Slum and Ragmen Nongsder Village. 

    During these 5 days programme, 100s of underprivileged children participated and had a very good time interacting with the guests and participating in cultural activities and other different fun-filled games .
