Sohra honeymoon murder: Three arrested, one surrenders in Raja Raghuvanshi case

In a significant breakthrough, Meghalaya Police have arrested three suspects and secured the surrender of one woman in connection with the brutal murder of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi. One more accused is still absconding.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma confirmed the development on Monday, stating in a post on X, “Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case. Three assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, a female has surrendered, and operations are still on to catch one more assailant. Well done Meghalaya Police.”
Raghuvanshi, who had travelled to Sohra with his wife Sonam for their honeymoon, was reported missing on May 23. His decomposed body was found days later in a deep gorge at Weisawdong Falls. Police later recovered a bloodstained ‘dao’ suspected to be the murder weapon, and a raincoat believed to belong to the missing woman.
The murder is now confirmed as a planned homicide. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SP (City) Herbert Kharkongor is probing the case, which has gripped public attention and raised questions over tourist safety in the region. A CBI inquiry has also been demanded by the victims’ family.

The search for the remaining accused continues.
