    JOWAI: To strengthen the fight for demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and National Register of Citizenship in the State of Meghalaya, the conglomeration of likeminded social organizations from Khasi-Jainita Hills region and Garo Hills region today decided to form the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO).

    Informing this to media persons, secretary of the newly formed CoMSO.

    Roy Kupar Synrem said that the leaders of the Confederation of Hynniewtrep Social Organizations (CoHSO) and the All Garo Hills Joint Action Committee (AGHJAC) held a meeting in Shillong this afternoon to discuss on common issues affecting the people of Hynniewtrep and Achik.

    “We unanimously agreed that we need to unite and fight together for the demand of ILP and NRC in the State as to protect from inter-state influx and also to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) if the BJP try to bring it back again,” Synrem said.

    The newly formed body will be meeting soon to chalk out agitation as to pressurize the government to implement ILP in the state, he informed.

    The meeting has elected Chairman-Robertjune Kharjahrin, President HYC, three Vice- Chairmen- Nikman Ch Marak, Chairman, GSMC, Lamphrang Kharbani, President, HANM and Lawyerson War, President JSU, Secretary Roy Kupar Synrem, G.S. HYC, three joint secretaries- Saljirang R Marak, President, GSU Eastern Zone, D. Sun, President, WKSU and B. Ryntathiang, President, CORP besides the president and the secretary of all members-social organizations as executive members.
