Skill Yatra rolls into Baksa: Initiative promotes skill training for youth

The Assam Skill Development Mission’s flagship programme, Skill Yatra, launched its Skill Awareness Programme in Baksa district on Tuesday, aiming to promote skill-based education and training among students and local youth.
Held at Mushalpur Higher Secondary School, the event was formally inaugurated by Baksa Deputy Commissioner Gautam Das, who also flagged off a dedicated Skill Awareness Mobile Van. In his address, Das stressed the need for professional training, calling on students to pursue careers aligned with their interests. He praised Skill Yatra as a visionary initiative by the Assam government to equip young people with job-ready skills and promote self-reliance.
Other speakers included Jaherul Islam, Inspector of Schools, B.D.C Mushalpur; S.R. Mandal, General Manager, DICC, Baksa; Nirupama Haloi, Principal of Mushalpur Higher Secondary School; and Kailash Das, District Project Manager, Baksa. They highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals across industries and the importance of bridging education with practical expertise.
Skill Yatra, launched statewide by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 8, 2023, aims to create a unified Skill City and establish skill centres in every district and block. The mission aims to align traditional education with modern industry needs by enhancing access to quality training and infrastructure throughout Assam.
