Six Bangladeshi nationals including four children were apprehended while they were attempting to cross over to Bangladesh from along the international border in East Jaintia Hills district on Thursday.

Acting on specific tip off, the border security force (BSF) immediately launched a swift operation and foiled the illegal border crossing attempt by apprehending the six Bangladeshi nationals.

Upon apprehension, the six individuals revealed that they had illegally entered India a few months ago. They further disclosed that they had been employed as domestic workers in Bangalore and were now attempting to return to Bangladesh through unauthorized means.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Shipli (26) and Rumana (23).

The seized items and apprehended person were handed over to concerned police station PPP Umkiang for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The BSF said it is committed to safeguarding the nation’s borders and preventing illegal activities, ensuring the safety and security.
