  • Six Bangladeshi arrested in Meghalaya for illegal entry to India

    Six Bangladeshi and four Indian abetting their illegal entry to Indian territory along Assam- Meghalaya border were arrested on Tuesday.

    According to Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills, District, Khliehriat Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS on Tuesday evening, one white color maruti 800 vehicle (AS-11-5670) coming from Silchar side ferrying few passengers was given signal to stop at Umtyra Infiltration Check Point but it fled away.

    After sometime, at around 8:00 pm, the In-charge of Infiltration Khliehriat Check Post, East Jaintia Hills District received information from KSU, Khliehriat Unit that 8 (eight) persons were detected and brought to Khliehriat PS for taking further necessary action.

    After proper verification of documents and preliminary investigation it was found out that the 6 persons were travelling without any documents and they were confirmed to be Bangladeshi national.

    The six Bangladeshi are all from Habiganj Village, Bangladesh. They are Md. Farbad Mia (32), Md. Shaheen Mia (30), Md. Shano Mia (50), Md. Kudos Mia (30), Md. Babul Mia (35) and Saya Khatoon (35)

    The driver of the vehicle identified as Dionitrios Khyriem (32) of Mynkrem village under West Jaintia Hills and his wife Merciful Suja (35) of Kuliang village in East Jaintia Hills, Md. Abdul Monnan Laskar (30) Silchar, Assam and Md. Ansari Jamal 33 Barpeta, Assam were also arrested. They have been found to be illegally aiding and abetting the illegal infiltration and transportation of suspected Bangladeshi nationals.

    On the First information Report given by SI. R. B. Swer, Infiltration Khliehriat Check Post, East Jaintia Hills District a case vide Khliehriat PS Case No. 60 (6) 2022 u/s 370 IPC R/W Sec 14 Foreigners Act has been registered and investigation is in progress.
