Revenue and Disaster Minister Kyrmen Shylla on Wednesday appealed to the people to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

This came following the recent violent mob attack and the setting ablaze of 15 trucks at Star Cement premises at Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills District, the incident of which was triggered after the death of a pick-up truck driver, who was run over by the company’s truck.

“I request all concerned to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. It is not appropriate because law is there to give justice to the family members, who got affected. By taking law in your own hands, it will not profit anybody,” Shylla said.

He also appealed to truck and light vehicle drivers to drive responsibly and said, “Because it is difficult for family members to accept that just because of someone’s mistake, they would lose a life.”
