    Minister in-charge Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sanbor Shullai on Wednesday assured to look into the request for construction of a buidling for the veterinary hospital at Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district. 

    At present, the hospital does not have its own building even after being upgraded from a dispensary, Shullai said while replying to a query raised by Mookaiaw legislator Nujorki Sungoh in the Assembly. 

    He said the Jowai hospital is equipped and has the facilities and manpower to render services like treatment of livestock and pets, conducting of major and minor surgeries and providing preventive vaccination. 

    Besides, the hospital is also equipped to handle emergency of medical and surgical cases. 

    When Nongthymmai legislator Charles Pyngrope asked on the status of the decision of State Animal Welfare Board to construct a shelter for animals in distress in Shillong, Tura and Jowai, Shullai said that the matter will also be looked into.
