    The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District in a press release issued here informs the general public that in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and order issued by the Government of Meghalaya. The activities that has also been  permitted in East Jaintia Hills District from 11th  May, 2020 includes opening of all shops in Rural Areas whereas, in urban areas of the District only stationary shops, auto spare parts shops and authorized car wash units  are permitted to open.

    The Deputy Commissioner has also stated that the operation of Public transport has been increased to 50% within the district and it will function on a rotation basis. Further, 50 % private transport is permitted to operate within the district on rotation basis. All four wheeler vehicles will have maximum of two persons besides the vehicle driver and for two wheelers, pillion rider is not allowed.

    The public are directed to cooperate with the District Administration and Police. All village authorities are requested to strictly adhere to the Health Department advisories to maintain social distancing at least 1 meter from one another, maintain personal hygiene, wash their hands frequently with soap and water and to dispose waste in the identified dustbin.

    They are also requested not to shake hands, not to touch eyes, nose and mouth without washing their hands, not to sneeze or cough in their hands without covering their nose and mouth, not to spit in public places and to avoid close contact with a person who has cough, sneeze or fever.
