Shooting Association of Meghalaya hosts special sports day for hearing-impaired children

A demonstration of sports Shooting was conducted by Shooting Association of Meghalaya for the School & Center for Hearing Handicap Children, at  Bethany Society, Veronica Lane, Laitumkhrah, Shillong on Friday.

A total of 19 children attended the demonstration together with 4 shooters from the Association. Out of these, 9 showed great potential even though it was the first time they were exposed to the indoor shooting sports.

President of the Shooting Association of Meghalaya John F Kharshiing said that the Association is exploring the possibility of providing the physically disabled with training subject to recommendations by the school management and Principal and the possibility of their participating in Para events and sports. It is for the first time that the  Association has taken this step to provide a sense of inclusiveness to the physically challenged.
