  • Shillong Traffic Police to take action against failure to wear helmet

    The Shillong Traffic Police has requested the public to develop the helmet wearing habit for both riders and pillion riders as measure for road safety.

    East Khasi Hills district superintendent of police (traffic), Siddharth Ambedkar in a statement informed that the STP has conducted awareness drive on wear of Helmets for both riders and pillion riders. 

    “Therefore, this is to remind the general public that STP will enforce the same from 1st December, 2020 and any violation of the direction, violators will be booked under Section 194 D of Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019,” he said 

    The SP also requested all headmen of the district  to give wide publicity in this regard through their PA system in all the localities.
