Shillong takes part in ‘Khadi for Fashion’ movement to celebrate local craftsmanship
A Special Campaign titled ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ with the tag line “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion” is being celebrated from this year onwards across the country during 2nd October to 31st October.
The objective of the Khadi Mahotsav is to promote Khadi and Village Industries, Handloom and Handicraft products, ODOP products and products of various traditional and cottage industries manufactured locally and to further promote the idea of “Vocal for Local” campaign and ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
On this Occasion, State Office, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Shillong conducted various programs like Seminar, Khadi Yatra, Khadi Charcha & Khadi Pledge at Gandhi Buniyadi Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong on the 18th October,2023 wherein the principal along with the Faculty members participated.
During the Seminar, Mange Ram, State Director, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Shillong has presented the various Schemes of KVIC & also interacted with the students in the context of Khadi Charcha. In the Charcha, various queries are raised by the Participants & the faculty members and replied them with suitable examples.
A total number of 90 nos. of students including the faculty members of Gandhi Buniyadi School has participated in the Khadi Yatra.
