Shillong Science Centre celebrates National Space Day with week-long student workshops

The Shillong Science Centre (SSC) marked the 2nd National Space Day with a week-long celebration from August 18 to 23, 2025, under its PULSE (Promoting Understanding and Learning in Science Education) programme. The initiative, supported by the Government of Meghalaya, aimed to promote scientific curiosity and hands-on learning among students.
Ninety-six students from three schools—Syndong Secondary Karhadem, Kynjoin Umran Presbyterian Upper Primary, and Ka Phan Nonglait Memorial—participated in interactive sessions and practical workshops.
The programme covered topics such as the solar system, the role of the sun, auroras, and the Earth-Moon relationship, while also highlighting India’s space achievements, particularly the success of Chandrayaan-3.
Students learned about the Orbiter, Vikram Lander, and Pragyan Rover, and were briefed on ISRO’s upcoming missions, including the ambitious 2028 launch. Hands-on activities in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, AI, and Robotics further encouraged students to connect science with innovation.
The week concluded on August 23, aligning with the national observance of Space Day, reinforcing India’s growing leadership in space exploration and inspiring young minds in Meghalaya to pursue science and technology.
