Shillong Lajong were defeated 2-1 by North-East United in their second match of the Kalinga Super Cup held on Monday at the Kalinga Stadium, Pitch 1, Bhubaneswar.

Lajong started the game on a positive note and took the lead in the 17th minute through a wonderful solo effort by their new Brazilian forward, Douglas Tardin and they managed to hold on to their lead going into the half-time whistle.

In the second half, North-East United scored the equaliser in the 60th minute through their Spanish forward Nestor Albiach, and it did not take long for Nestor to double his tally when he converted his goal through a controversial penalty kick and put North-East ahead in the 66th minute. North-East United manage to hold onto their lead until the final whistle and claim their first win of the competition.

Lajong will now look forward to playing their final match against Jamshedpur FC on Saturday, January 20th, at 2 p.m. in Kalinga Stadium, Pitch 1, Bhubaneswar.
