    The Shillong Bypass will be temporarily closed for the period of one week from October 13 in view of the recent land slide at Km 38+500 LHS, Village Thangshalai and as per advisory issued by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) that the Bypass is still unsafe for commuters till the clearing of the debris is complete.

    In an order issued by S Nongtnger, IPS, Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills said “The entire Bypass is hereby closed for movement of traffic is temporarily closed from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM every day for the period of one week w.e.f. 13th October, 2020.”

    “Officer In-Charge, Mawryngkneng PS will ensure that the order for temporary closure of the Bypass is strictly enforced and to detail 2 (two) police personnel on a daily basis at the site of the landslide till the clearing work is completed,” the order said.

    Further, West Jaintia Hills SP, Bikram D Marak informed that all HMVs going towards Guwahati (Trucks, Containers & Trailers) will be stagger at Phramer Parking lot on daily basis from 8.30 Am to 5 Pm w.e.f 13.10.20 for a period of 1 week. Petroleum Tankers & Passenger Buses will be exempted on need to need basis.
