    The Shillong Archdiocese on Tuesday decided to open five new Parishes out of two existing Parishes viz Nongthymmai and Mawlai.

    The decision to open the new five Parishes in meeting convened by Shillong Archdiocese with Council members, Parish Priests (Mawlai & Nongthymmai) and lay leaders

    The five new Parishes are Mawiong and Mawtawar out of Mawlai Parish while Umpling, Nongrah and Madanrting out of Nongthymmai Parish.

    Shillong Arch Bishop Victor Lyngdoh said, “In our journey towards progress in our Christian commitment, we realize the need for better spiritual and pastoral care in the whole Archdiocese. We are indebted to all the Priests, Religious, lay leaders and the faithful for their selfless service to the Church.”

    Lyngdoh said in keeping with the need for pastoral care and long aspirations of the faithful, they are opening new Parishes in a phase-wise manner.
