An association of sex workers “RAM” on Tuesday has apologized for claiming to have its headquarters at Nongmynsong.

“We also apologize for revealing the good name of Nongmynsong locality thereby tarnishing its clean image. It was wrong and we deeply regret it,” RAM general secretary P Mylliemngap said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

“We apologize to the respectable MLA of Pynthorumkhrah, the local Headman and locality representatives as well. We also apologize to all the moral police NGOs who were disgusted by our very presence in society,” Mylliemngap added.

On Monday, cabinet minister and Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek has asked the dorbar shnong of Nongmynsong to take action against the RAM for allegedly tarnishing the image of Nongmynsong.

Mylliemngap said that the association was illegally keeping a temporary headquarter at a rented house of one of the members D Mawlong without the knowledge of the Nongmynsong locality.  “We only did it since our permanent headquarters at Mawiong Rim had been busted a few months back,” the statement added.
