    To prevent Trans-border crime including smuggling of cattle, contraband goods and other illegal activities which may caused breach of peace and annoyance, injury to BSF Personnel who are lawfully engaged in the International Border, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has imposed section 144 CrPC along the Indo- Bangladesh Border of the District.

    The District Magistrate prohibits movement of people at the International Border with the intention to cross the International boundary in Bangladesh or sneak in the Indian Territory.

    Illegal, undesirable activities, smuggling of cattle/contraband goods, betel nut, betel leaves, dry fish, biri, cigarettes, chai/patti etc is prohibited.

    It also prohibits use of sharp edged weapons, petrol bomb, crackers and lathi charge etc. against BSF.
