    West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate BS Sohliya has issued prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC in the forested areas of “LumKhohskhen”, “LumMynsiang”, and “Um Saitshyieng” adjacent to Lumlakhiat village and Umshangiar village under Namdong C&RD Block due to claim and counter claim of jurisdiction between the two villages over the said forested areas.

    The Prohibitory order will be applicable only to in and around the disputed sites, namely “LumKhohskhen”, “LumMynsiang”, and “Um Saitshyieng”.

    According to the prohibitory order, assembly of more than 5 (five) persons in one place is prohibited.

    The order ban the carrying Arms and any other lethal weapons with the intention to cause threat /harm to any person(s). This order will not apply to the Police force to perform duties.

    The order prohibited the felling of trees, chopping of branches, clearing of any undergrowth or any other action detrimental to the maintenance of Law and Order.

    The order ban the Carrying of articles like saw, daos, with the intention to cut trees in the disputed site.

    The plying and entry of all types of vehicles into the disputed site with the intention to load the already fallen trees / Logs is banned .

    The plying and entry of all types of vehicles into the disputed site except for the police vehicles is prohibited.

    The District Magistrate warned that any violation of the prohibitory order will attract penal provisions under Section 188 of the IPC
