    With a view to curb increasing crime of property theft in Khliehriat Town, the Khliehriat Police held a meeting with scrap shop owners within the jurisdiction of Khliehriat PS to seek cooperation of the shop owners to curb crime against property on Friday.

    The owners of the scrap shops have collectively decided not to buy any scrap metals which are of good quality except those which are in rusted state since the good quality scrap metals would likely have been stolen goods.

    The scrap shop owners have collected decided not to buy any copper/copper wires from anybody who comes to sell the said items in their shops.

    The shop owners have collectively decided to inform the police of anybody who comes to sell scrap metals/copper wires etc in their shop which might be suspicious of being stolen goods.

    The Officer -in-Charge of Khliehriat PS also educated the shop owners on the provisions of law regarding theft and informed them that receiving any stolen property is also a crime and hence they may face legal consequences if they do so.
