Scindia reviews Assam’s development projects with CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati

Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya M Scindia, held a comprehensive review meeting with the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, in Guwahati on Friday to assess the progress of key development projects in the state.
During the meeting, Scindia reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to playing the role of a proactive facilitator in supporting Assam’s development journey. He emphasized the need to drive 100% saturation of critical social goals in Vibrant Villages, taking up specific issues on a mission mode to ensure tangible impact. Discussions also highlighted the immense potential of agarwood and the importance of developing it as a high-value economic asset for the state. The Minister emphasised on the need for end-to-end value addition in Assam’s unique Muga silk industry, enabling local weavers to move up the value chain and derive sustainable livelihoods.
The review further included a focus on Assam’s efforts to become self-reliant in palm oil production, aligning with the national objective and PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbharta. Comprehensive tourism development also featured prominently in the discussions, with a shared vision of showcasing Assam’s cultural richness and natural beauty to the world. The Minister assured the state of continued support and collaboration from the Union Government to accelerate inclusive and sustainable growth in Assam and the entire Northeast region.
