In view of the prevailing situation concerning the spread of COVID-19 and in pursuance to previous notification of the Government of Meghalaya, it has been observed that several school’s administration are still not complying with the effort of the Government to contain the outbreak and are using this break for other co-curricular activities, thus violating the orders of the Government.

In order to contain the outbreak and to comply with the notification, A.Ch Marak Director of School Education & Literacy, Meghalaya in a press communique informed the following protocol shall be strictly implemented in all the schools.

All schools are to completely shut down and not to take up any co-curricular activities that may encourage assembling of 5 or more children, however, if any emergency or urgent meeting takes place, a safe distance of 1 Meter should be maintained. In this regard, any preparation or practice for annual sport events such as march past, drill, track and field, football, basketball or any other form of contact sport shall be immediately discontinued.

This will include shutting down of gymnasium, basketball court, football field or any infrastructure which may encourage young adults to congregate. A strict notice should be kept in place to deter any encroachment and if any such intrusion occurs in the school vicinity, the same should be reported to the police authority for early action.

All academic activities such as homework assignments, projects, etc., shall be carried out through on line mode as much as possible or collection by parents/guardians at specific time.

All school’s administration including the School Managing Committee are responsible to strictly comply with the law and regulatory order related to curb COVID-19 and in any violation shall be penalized under the Indian Penal Code.
