    In order to ensure the safety and security of the students due to predictions of very heavy rainfall, the East Jaintia Hills District Magistrate ordered all schools in the district to remain closed on Friday and Saturday under the provision of Section 34 (m) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

    According to an official order, the District Magistrate said that heavy rainfall along with severe lightning and thundering has been experienced in the district over the last few days.

    Further, the India Meteorological Department, Meteorological Center, Shillong also forecasted very heavy rainfall in East Jaintia Hills District on Friday and Saturday.
