    The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District has directed all Nursery, Lower Primary and Upper Primary Schools within Jowai Town to remain closed from April 28 until further orders.

    This is according to order issued by Garod LSN Dykes, IAS District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills under section 144 of the CrPC read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Disease, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.

    The order said that ongoing MBOSE Examinations will continue as scheduled by strictly following COVID protocols.

    It has been stated that as there has been spike in positive Corona cases from returnees coming from different States having lockdown and exponential cases; and also due to highly contagious nature of virus, it is necessary to break the transmission chain and necessary to put in place preventive measures so that the pandemic of COVID- 19 does not spread in the District.

    Violation is a punishable offence with fine under Section 51(b) of the Disaster
    Management Act, 2005.
