SCA-B crowned champions in MCA U-16 final; Suraj Chettri stars in title win

SCA-B produced an all-round performance to defeat TDCA by 8 wickets in the final of the MCA Under-16 Boys Inter District Tournament 2025, held at Madan Thad, Mukhla Mission on Wednesday. With both bat and ball clicking, SCA-B sealed the title in style.
Opting to bat first, TDCA struggled early and never recovered momentum, getting bowled out for 106 in 41.4 overs. The top order collapsed in a series of brief partnerships, with the opening stand contributing just 13 runs off 56 balls between Eloha Boyer K Sangma and Rickero P Sangma. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals—TDCA’s largest partnership was only 22 runs, between Doangkam Ch Marak and Eloha.
Aniket Poddar held one end firm with a composed 31 off 44 balls, while Doangkam Ch Marak added a quick 25. However, no other batter crossed double digits, and the team failed to accelerate at any stage. In the bowling department, SCA-B’s Arav Baraily led the charge with an excellent spell of 3/17 in 9.4 overs. He was well supported by Navneet Sah (2/4 in 6 overs, economy 0.67) and Piyush Ray (2/14 in 4 overs), as the trio dismantled the TDCA batting line-up with relentless accuracy.
In response, SCA-B chased down the 107-run target in just 22.2 overs, finishing at 109/2. Their run chase was anchored by a commanding performance from Suraj Chettri, who remained unbeaten on 71 runs off 79 balls. He shared a crucial 83-run opening partnership with Ryan Wilson Malngiang (9 off 49), which set the foundation for a smooth win. A quick 17-run stand with Ynsanhame Tang and a final flourish alongside Prasant Kumar (5*) saw SCA-B cross the finish line with ease.

Suraj Chettri was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 71* runs in the final. Suraj Chettri was also the Best Batsman of the Tournament, finishing as the top scorer with 368 runs throughout the competition. Aniket Poddar of TDCA, who picked up 24 wickets in the tournament, was recognized as the Best Bowler and also earned the prestigious Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding all-round contribution.
The closing ceremony was graced by Jowai legislator Wailadmiki Shylla, who presented the winners’ trophy to the SCA-B team. The event also saw the presence of Edystone Shylla, President of the West Jaintia Hills District Cricket Association (WJHDCA), R.
