    East Jaintia Hills MLA Santa Mary Shylla, on Thursday, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner S. Awasthi (IAS), ADC, BDO Lumshnong Block M. Kyndait, Additional SP EJHD, DPM Basin, village leaders and officials, conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing schemes and projects in her constituency, covering schools, health centres, roads, sports facilities and livelihood initiatives.

    During the visit, Shylla assured the early renovation of the Government LP School at Ratacherra and inspected the ongoing construction of a futsal playground under the District Mineral Fund (DMF), which is expected to be completed within a month. She also visited the Wellington Jungai Memorial Secondary School and reviewed the services at the Ratacherra Sub Centre.

    At Donaskur, she inspected the RMSA Secondary School project, while in Wahkoh, she visited the Arecanut Plate Making Unit funded by the Basin Department. In Umkiang, Shylla interacted with doctors and staff at the PHC and expressed satisfaction at the renovation completed under DMF. She also appreciated the work at the Sonapyrdi Sub Centre, where a safe baby delivery was recently conducted.

    Shylla further inspected the site for the proposed suspension footbridge over the Lukha River at Sonapyrdi and reviewed the repair work on NH-6 covering Kuliang, Wahkoh and Ratacherra. Officials informed her that 80% of the work has been completed and is scheduled to finish by December 2025.

    Taking to social media after the inspection, the MLA said she was encouraged to see steady progress in projects spanning education, health, sports, connectivity and infrastructure. “Together, we are building a better future for our people,” she added.
