Sanbor Shullai meets Minister of Sports in Delhi

BJP MLA, Sanbor Shullai, met Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju to inquire about central support on Thursday in New Delhi.

As the 39th edition of the National Games 2022 approaches, the BJP MLA, Sanbor Shullai is concerned about the image of the state and has requested the development of the Shillong Cantonment Ground as a part of the preparations as the host. He said it would benefit the people of the city and the National Games 2022 in the future.

The MLA also emphasised the need to establish a youth development programme funded by the central government. In this regard, the various stakeholders ranging from various socio-cultural societies, sporting clubs and other organisations could be associated with the implementation of various developmental programmes. Hence, providing the local youths with a platform and infrastructure to initiate multidisciplinary programmes which will be prime in the state’s development and also channelizing the youth’s potential in the right direction.

The MLA Shanbor Shullai said, “the Union Sports Minister has given assurance to provide funds for the development of Shillong Cantonment ground and also gave assurance to look into all the matters raised.“
