    Sabahmuswang’s finest runners, Happiness Phawa and Teiboklang Biam, emerged victorious at the Independence Day Run 2023 held in Jowai Town.

    The race was organized to celebrate the 77th Independence Day, which was commemorated across the country on August 15th.

    Jointly organized by the office of Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the office of the District Sports Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai.

    The race was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner WR Kharbuli in the presence of Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Affairs & District Sports Officer Khroobok Passah, Working President WJDSA EMH Passah, among others.

    The race route started from the Main Gate of Kiang Nangbah Stadium (starting point), proceeded along Ladthadlaboh Main Road, Jowai Public School, Gate Polytechnic, Kshaid Rymphum, Salaroh, Dulong Poh-hali Road, Dulong, Pamhadem, Panaliar (Civil Hospital), Iongpiah, Mission Compound, H.K. Singh School, D.C. Office, New Hill, National Highway, and concluded at Kiang Nangbah Indoor Stadium (finishing point).

    Happiness Phawa secured the first position in the Women’s category, followed by Phyrnai Kyndait from Mukhaialong and Monlangki Kyndait from Mihmyntdu in the second and third places, respectively.

    In the Men’s Category, Teiboklang Biam came in first, followed by Dasaman Kyndait from Sabahmuswang in second place and Santify Pale from Nartiang in third place.
