Run against drugs: Jowai observes anti-drug day

As part of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, in collaboration with the District Administration and the District Sports Officer, organised a marathon titled “Run Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

The marathon was flagged off at the main gate of Kiang Nangbah Stadium by EHM Passah, Working President of the West Jaintia District Sports Association (WJDSA). Participants of all age groups enthusiastically took part in the event, which followed a route through Ladthadlaboh Main Road, Jowai Public School, Gate Polytechnic, Kshaid Rymphum, Salaroh, Dulong Poh-hali Road, Tpep-Pale, Wahnangbah Road, New Hill National Highway, and back to the starting point.

Mementoes and cash prizes were awarded to the winners. In the men’s category, Dasaman Kyndait from Sabahmuswang bagged the first prize, followed by Daioohimitre Suting from Sohmynting in second place and Daboimiki Mulieh from Ialong in third.

In the women’s category, Phyrnai Kyndait from Mukhaialong secured the top spot, while Marwa Shylla from Sabahmuswang and Dakawanhi Suchiang from Mihmyntdu took second and third place respectively.
