Minister in-charge Revenue & Disaster Management Kyrmen Shylla on Tuesday said Rs 9.70 lakh was sanctioned for payment to 522 families affected by flash floods under Bhoirymbong block during 2020.

Replying to a query raised by AITC MLA from Umroi George B Lyngdoh in the Assembly, Shylla said that the total estimated amount of compensation has already been placed to the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District on July 26, 2021 and January 18, 2022 for payment to the farmers whose fields have been destroyed by flash floods during the year 2020.

He however informed that the amount is yet to be paid to 77 families affected by the flash floods on July 26, 2021 and 64 on January 18, 2022.

“We have another 55 families who have not received the money. This was because they have not submitted their documents,” Shylla said.

The minister has also assured to review the present system when members expressed concern over the delay to pay affected families.
