The State Government has released a fund of Rs 30 crore to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) from the share of major mineral.

This release comes after the members of the Executive Committee of the council and the District Executive Committee of the NPP requested Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on June 6 to release the salaries before the Behdienkhlam festival.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of JHADC, Thombor Shiwat, stated on June 20 that the State Government has already released Rs 30 crore to the council. He mentioned that the remaining amount is Rs.50 crore from coal royalty and Rs. 9.91 crore from minor minerals

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has assured that he will take steps to release these remaining amounts in the coming days, added Thombor.

The CEM and his executive committee expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for his efforts to help the council by releasing funds to pay the employees’ salaries.

“This proactive step by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to release the funds shows that he is a man who fulfils his promises and commitments,” said Thombor, adding that he hopes the MDA 2.0 government under the leadership of the Chief Minister will also ensure the monthly release of the council’s share to avoid any disruption in its functioning.
