RPF chief reviews security in NF Railway, stresses modernization and border vigilance

Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Manoj Yadava, conducted a high-level inspection of security infrastructure and operational preparedness within the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone, reaffirming Indian Railways’ focus on bolstering safety and vigilance in strategically sensitive regions.
The NF Railway shares international borders with Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, and Myanmar, making it one of the most complex and crucial zones in terms of security management. DG Yadava’s visit underscored the need for a robust security framework to address the unique geographical and strategic challenges faced in the region.
During his visit, the RPF chief conducted a thorough inspection of infrastructure and chaired a crime review meeting at the newly inaugurated RPF conference hall, “Manthan”, at the NFR headquarters in Maligaon. The meeting was attended by senior officials including AGM/NFR Shri V. B. Vishwakarma and IG/RPF Shri K. Arul Jothi, among others. Discussions focused on crime prevention, passenger safety, intelligence sharing, and modernization of RPF operations through technology.
DG Yadava emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-agency coordination, enhancing surveillance capabilities, and leveraging digital tools for faster response and proactive crime control across railway networks.
To boost on-ground operational efficiency, the DG also flagged off 10 four-wheelers and 27 two-wheelers, which will be deployed across key railway zones for improved patrolling and rapid response to incidents. These vehicles are expected to significantly enhance the mobility and presence of RPF personnel.
As part of the morale-boosting outreach, a “Suraksha Sammelan” was held at Rang Bhawan, the cultural auditorium at Maligaon, where DG Yadava addressed a large gathering of RPF personnel. He acknowledged the critical role played by the force and assured that the welfare, training, and professional development of RPF members remain a top priority. He encouraged open communication to better understand the challenges faced by personnel on the ground.
“The RPF is a frontline force ensuring the safety of passengers and railway infrastructure, especially in a region as sensitive and strategically important as the Northeast. Our goal is to ensure that the force is well-equipped, well-trained, and well-supported to handle any situation with professionalism,” Yadava said.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment by the Northeast Frontier Railway to implement the directives issued by the DG/RPF and continue upgrading its security systems. With its expanded fleet, enhanced surveillance focus, and strategic partnerships, the NFR is poised to reinforce its role as a critical pillar in safeguarding not just the railway network but broader national interests in the region.
