Royal Global University marks 79th Independence Day; vice chancellor stresses technological sovereignty

The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) celebrated the 79th Independence Day on Friday with patriotic fervour, cultural performances, and a call to recognise India’s technological sovereignty alongside its political independence.
The celebrations began at 8:55 a.m. with the unfurling of the National Flag by Chancellor Dr. A.K. Pansari, Pro-Chancellor A.K. Modi, and Vice Chancellor Prof. A.K. Buragohain. The NCC cadets of RGU presented a guard of honour, followed by the playing of the National Anthem. K.M. Sudha later conducted a badge-conferring ceremony for NCC cadets.
In his address, Prof. Buragohain paid tribute to freedom fighters and underscored the dual responsibility of educational institutions in nation-building. “We must always remember the sacrifices made by those known and unknown who laid down their lives for India’s independence,” he said. Highlighting the country’s progress, he added: “India today is a technologically powerful nation—our technological sovereignty must be celebrated along with political sovereignty.”

The programme also featured patriotic recitations by Dr. Florence Handique Rabha, Dr. Saswati Bordoloi, and Dr. Annu Kumari, along with a keyboard solo performance by Prof. Abhijit Dutta. The day concluded with a friendly cricket match between the university’s faculty and administrative staff.
Would you like me to make this headline more formal-newswire style (straightforward, e.g., “RGU celebrates 79th Independence Day with call for technological sovereignty”) or keep it slightly punchier and inspirational as it is now?
